Why Am I Not Receiving Emails from the Forms on my Website?
Not Receiving Emails from Website
If your website has a form, like on the Contact Us or job application page, ideally, you’d receive the submissions via email. But, due to email spammers, it doesn’t always work perfectly. These website emails can often end up stuck in your spam filters.
There are various types of spam filters, such as those in Outlook, Apple Mail, or GMail. Check your spam folders for these emails. If you use a separate email service with spam filtering, you might need to log in to their website to find them.
When your new website launches, it’s crucial to ensure these emails make it through. If not, you may need to whitelist the server or train your spam filter that these emails are not spam.
Did I Just Lose Everything?
At Mid-West, we don’t rely on email for websites we set up due to the issues mentioned. Instead, we always have a backup directly on your website. Simply log in to your website’s Dashboard or Administration area, and locate the “Forms” component or plugin. You’ll find a section named “Submissions” where a backup of everything sent is stored. From there, you can easily download or export it.
E-Commerce Websites
For those who own a website with a shopping cart or e-commerce, relying solely on email isn’t advisable. It’s essential to log into your website multiple times a day to verify and confirm orders. Additionally, it’s crucial to reconcile this information with your payment gateway software to ensure each transaction was successful and nothing was overlooked.
What to Do
If you’re not receiving email that you think you should be, then find out if you have any spam/junk email filters in place.
Email can be set up a large variety of ways, so filtering might not be the issue but it’s the best place to start since this is usually what is happening.
